Project Introduction
This residential project explores the dynamic relationships between various rooms and spaces, emphasizing the contrasts and connections between public and private realms. By examining spatial organization through this lens, the project seeks to create environments—both interior and exterior—that foster meaningful interaction and evoke distinct atmospheric qualities. The flow of movement through these spaces is carefully considered, with a hierarchy that guides occupants intuitively, enhancing their experience as they transition between different zones within the residence.

Program Development & Master Planning
This apartment is approximately 7000sqft; therefore, how to bring natural light into the space is an obstacle for the design progress. In order to maximize natural lighting in this apartment, I decided to add a courtyard, which is enveloped by glass, at the center of the apartment.
The south side of the apartment receives the most sunlight during the day, so I decide to add the living room and principal bedroom on the south side to have the best natural lighting environment. More importantly, the south side is facing a quiet neighborhood, which helps to create tranquility and peace.
Another indoor garden is used in between office and kitchen to bring more natural light while increasing visual interests.
Concept Board
The concept board focuses on the MOOD I want my design to evoke. The artwork portrays the fall season, with a color palette dominated by earth tones and saturated colors. To create an atmosphere that feels welcoming and comfortable, warm colors and natural materials are used. Additionally, the relationship between natural light and the interior is once again emphasized in this concept board.
